About This Place

Located in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, Café Rama is a charming and eclectic restaurant that masterfully blends the warmth of a cozy coffee shop with the vibrant flavors of a breakfast and lunch spot. Nestled at Nemesio Diez #7 in Zona Centro, this inviting eatery offers an extensive menu that beautifully marries Mexican regional cuisine with classic international dishes, creating a culinary experience that truly delights the senses.

From the moment you step inside Café Rama, the atmosphere immediately sets the tone for an exceptional dining adventure—rustic and artful décor surrounds you, complemented by friendly staff that treat you like a welcomed guest. The smell of freshly brewed coffee beckons you to savor their perfectly crafted latte or cappuccino, while the aroma of homey favorites like enchiladas with mole sauce and chilaquiles verdes Rama stir your appetite.

The menu is a celebration of bold and comforting flavors. Dive into their delightful Chicken Pot Pie, a flaky, buttery crust encasing tender chicken and vegetables in a rich, savory filling. For a savory brunch treat, the Eggs Florentine shine with perfectly poached eggs atop a bed of spinach and hollandaise sauce—a dish that feels both luxurious and nourishing. Those craving something with a bit of a French twist will adore the Croque Madame and Croque Monsieur, prepared with care and overflowing with cheesy goodness.

Café Rama’s Mexican favorites, such as chilaquiles rojos and huevos revueltos con champiñones y espárragos, bring a fresh, vibrant kick to the table with their combination of fresh tortillas, runny eggs, earthy mushrooms, tender asparagus, and bright sauces. The grilled asparagus wrapped in bacon and tomato is a testament to the kitchen’s creativity, offering a harmonious balance of smoky, salty, and tangy notes. And dessert lovers can’t resist the Key Lime Pie or the Pay de Chocolate con Chile, especially when paired with a smooth, rich coffee.

What truly sets Café Rama apart is the authentic and heartfelt service, with patrons often highlighting the warm and attentive staff. Michael Glick appreciated its convenience and charm, calling it a “great breakfast spot near our hotel.” Nonya Business raved about their repeated visits, praising manager Christian’s helpfulness and Hector’s phenomenal service, while listing a mouth-watering array of dishes they enjoyed—from the grand slam breakfast to the shrimp fettuccine pesto. The intimate ambiance, complete with a cozy hearth and beautiful dining room, invites patrons to linger over a cappuccino and a slice of rich German chocolate cake, as Craig Weiner, D.C. discovered during a late-night dessert craving.

Regulars like Drake Maxwell consider Café Rama their favorite place in San Miguel, relishing not only the quality and variety of dishes but also the unique touch of serving sliced French baguette paired with homemade jams—as both a savory starter and a sweet finish. While some note that the live music can sometimes challenge the acoustics, most agree that the overall experience is enhanced by the eclectic and friendly vibe that permeates the space.

Whether you’re seeking a leisurely breakfast, a flavorful lunch, or a cozy spot for coffee and dessert in San Miguel de Allende, Café Rama promises a delicious, sensory-rich journey that delights with every bite and sip. It’s not just a meal here—it’s an invitation to savor life’s simple pleasures in an atmosphere that feels like home.

I'm SO GLAD we found this place! Came 2 days in a row so far because everything is so amazing. The manager Christian is so helpful and Hector is a phenomenal server. We've had the grand slam breakfast,, fish and chips, chicken pot pie and fettuccine pesto with shrimp.....everything is so flavorful and amazing. I definitely recommend!

Was strolling after dinner with a sweet tooth and Googled best desserts, that didn’t get me there but a local shop owner directed me there… what a sweet tastefully decorated spot with a hearth and beautiful dining room and bar…I opted for a cappuccino and slice of absolutely rich and light gGerman chocolate cake. It def hit the spot…the servers were delightful…they allowed my little dog in. Great find on the south side of Centro/plaza

Yummy! Our favorite place to eat in SMA! Extensive menu, quality food in an eclectic atmosphere. During breakfast and lunch they will serve you sliced French baguette with homemade, "made that day", jams. If your lunch is more savory, enjoy the jams for desert!

Several visits and meals here. Live music is invariably available but we sit outside the stage/hall area as noise level and accoustics are both poor as well as the sound systems we heard which detracted greatly from some great individual talent on stage. Outside the performance area, there are a couple of seats at the bar and another six or so tables seating between 2 and 6 at each nearer the kitchen. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Always great music at this place! Service can be a bit slow and food wasn't good. The calamari was greasy and had tons of batter. The vegan sandwich was lacking of flavour, but they were nice enough to split it in both plates, fries were on the cold side. But music was fantastic, so I'll just stick to drinks next time.

Great place for a dinner a great Cuban group, some dancing and excellent in house baked cakes like carrot cake and my favorite German chocolate cake. Different venues daily from cudan, salsa, rock, swing, jazz and others.

This place is a fantastic choice for brunch! Their menu features Mexican favorites such as enchiladas and huevos rancheros. The interior is charming, adorned with artwork by local artists, creating a welcoming atmosphere. We opted to sit outside and it was the perfect choice, allowing us to enjoy our meal in a more relaxed setting, away from the busyness and noise inside. The pricing is favorable, making it even more appealing. We make it a point to visit this cafe every time we're in SMDA, and we highly recommend it!
